Why this course?

This half-day course provides a fundamental introduction to fire safety in the workplace. Learners will explore how fires start, the key hazards to be aware of, and practical steps to help prevent them. Designed to raise awareness and promote safer working practices, the Level 1 Award in the Principles of Fire Safety Awareness qualification supports a proactive approach to fire risk management across all types of businesses.


If you do hold additional fire safety responsibilities, you will need to take training that provides specific information relevant to your role, such as our Level 2 Award in the Principles of Fire Safety - Fire Marshal course.

Who is this course for?


The law requires all employees to receive adequate fire safety training, and our course is designed to help your business fulfil this legal requirement. It is suitable for anyone at any level, no matter what industry you work in, from employees to managers and full-time to part-time staff.

If you are in charge of fire risk assessments and overseeing evacuation procedures, such as a fire warden, you will need to receive a higher level of training than this course provides.

How is this course delivered?

The Level 1 Award in the Principles of Fire Safety Awareness course is delivered in a classroom and there is a mix of theory and practical elements required to successfully complete the course. We will deliver the course In-House at your site for a group of employees.
